On Sunday, January 29, 2023, Dr. Mark Dever will give a lecture entitled “Discipling,” based on his book of the same name. What does it look like to help others become more like Christ? This talk will outline the who, what, where, when, why, and how of discipling―helping others follow Jesus. Following the pattern found in Scripture, he will explain how disciple-making relationships should function in the context of the local church, teaching us how to cultivate a culture of discipling as a normal part of our everyday lives.

Mark Dever has served as senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. for 28 years. He is the president of 9Marks, a ministry that exists to equip church leaders with a biblical vision and practical resources for building healthy churches. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books, including Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, which is now on its fourth edition. He also co-hosts the Pastors Talk podcast. He and his wife Connie live in Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Dr. Dever will be speaking at our Philadelphia Pastors Collective One-Day Gathering on Monday, January 30. Staff pastors of local churches are encouraged to attend and can register here.
