On Sunday, September 25, at 5 PM, Dr. Ligon Duncan will give a lecture entitled, “Shellfish, Lamb’s Blood, and the American Government: How Do Christians Relate to the Law?

The Law handed down to Moses at Mount Sinai served as the foundational document for the identity and practice of God’s people. As a reflection of the perfect holiness of God, it set the standard for all of life as part of his covenant community. But if you survey modern Christians, you would find an entire spectrum of beliefs regarding how we understand and submit to the rules, regulations, and practices set forth in the Law. Is it totally binding in all of its statutes? Can we disregard it as an outdated relic of a bygone era? This talk will demonstrate how a proper understanding of the Biblical Covenants helps us understand and relate to the Old Testament Law in a way that recognizes it as the holy, inerrant Word of God while also living in the freedom purchased for us at the cross of Jesus Christ.
