On Sunday, August 30th, at 6 PM, Dr. Jonathan Leeman will give a lecture entitled “How the Nations Rage: Rethinking Faith and Politics in a Divided Age.” What do we do when brothers and sisters in Christ sit next to each other in the pews but feel divided and angry? Is there a way forward? When we identify with Christ more than a political party or social grouping, we avoid the false allure of building heaven on earth and return to the church’s unchanging political task: to represent a heavenly and future kingdom now. It’s only when we realize that the life of our churches now is the hope of the nation for tomorrow that we become the salt and light Jesus calls us to be.

Dr. Leeman serves as the Editorial Director at 9Marks, a ministry that equips church leaders with a biblical vision and practical resources for building healthy churches. As a student of both political science and theology, he has written extensively on the relationship between the Church and State and how Christians may think and act rightly as citizens of both our nation and God’s Kingdom. You can find a selection of his writings here. He is also an elder at Cheverly Baptist Church in suburban Washington, D.C., where he lives with his wife and four daughters.

This event will be held on the grounds of Covenant Fellowship Church in Glen Mills, PA. Registration is required. Online registration is available on a first come, first serve basis. Once we fill all of the spaces, we will not be able to take any more registrations. There is no cost to attend.

Directions for registration: EventBrite only allows for a selection of “1” under Space Reservation because parking spaces are per household, not per person. Under Space Reservation, please select “1” for your household and then put the total number of people attending with you in the box at checkout. If you need to reserve spots for more than one household, or would like to choose your own spot from the remaining available spots, click “Buy on Map” on the right side.

In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors and the first 300 *to arrive* with proper registration will be allowed in the building. Masks will be mandatory for anybody over the age of 2 and seating will be arranged so that families/households can sit together but socially distant from other families/households. Childcare will not be available.
